JOHN R. FOX
A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Mr. Fox received his Bachelor of Arts in Political
Science and English in 1975 from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. In 1978,
he obtained his Juris Doctor from the same university. Mr. Fox has been awarded the highest
accolade in the worldwide Martindale Hubbell Rating System for attorneys; an AV rating which
signifies his legal abilities are of the very highest, preeminent standard and that his
professional ethics are unquestioned.
Following graduation from law school, Mr. Fox joined the firm of Merrick, Beamer,
Wells & Slagg. During his association with that firm, he devoted
approximately 95% of his practice to civil and workers' compensation insurance defense.
Mr. Fox's civil defense experience ranges from the handling of routine vehicular collisions to
multi-party products liability litigation pending before all levels of the State and Federal Courts.
During his tenure with the Merrick, Beamer, firm, Mr. Fox handled 90% of all the
workers' compensation defense files assigned to the firm.
In 1983, Mr. Fox and several of his associates formed the firm of Merrick,
Baker, Fox, Hufft & Strauss, P.C., where he remained a partner for 10 years.
Since the organization of FOX, STRETZ & QUINN, P.C. in 1993, Mr. Fox has continued to
concentrate his practice in the defense of workers' compensation. He has been an active
lecturer and author on the topic of workers' compensation law and is a member of the
Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association Workers' Compensation Law Committee.
