MATTHEW J. STRETZ

Originally from Sedalia, Missouri, Matthew Stretz obtained his Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He then obtained his law degree from the same university in 1982. Upon graduation, he began working with the firm of Gould & Moore specializing in general and civil litigation practice.

In 1985 Matthew Stretz joined the law firm of Gordon N. Myerson where he began practicing in the field of Workers’ Compensation defense. In 1989, he became “Of Counsel” to Armstrong, Teasdale, Schlafly, Davis & Dicus, later joining that firm as a partner in 1991. Matt joined the law firm of Merrick, Baker, Fox, Hufft & Strauss as a partner in 1992. As a founding partner of Stretz/Quinn, his practice consists exclusively of Workers’ Compensation defense litigation in both Missouri and Kansas.

Matt has argued before the United States Court of Appeals in the Eighth, Ninth and Tenth Circuits. Matthew Stretz is a frequent lecturer in Missouri and Kansas on Workers’ Compensation law and has published annual articles on the subject. He authors the chapter on Kansas Workers’ Compensation Law for the Missouri Practitioner found in the Missouri Bar Workers’ Compensation Law Desk Book. He is also a member of the Missouri Workers’ Compensation Law Committee.
